Experience:
Engineering Officer of the Watch: (July 1996 to present) Serve aboard the USS Thompson (DD 1087). Supervise a 50-man division with full responsibility concerning all propulsion plant operation and maintenance activities. Responsibilities include planning and quality control during preventive and corrective maintenance of three Allison 501-K17 Gas Turbine Generators, four LM 2500 Gas Turbine Main Propulsion Engines, and associated support systems.
Chief Petty Officer Gas Turbine Technician: (July 1993 to July 1996) Served aboard the USS Smith (FFG 92). Was actively involved in every facet of command management and personnel development. Was responsible for the ship's electrical distribution system and the safe and efficient operation of the engineering plant. Duties also included the training of personnel in the operation and casualty control procedures of the propulsion plant and electric plant control consoles. Advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer.
Classroom Instructor: (January 1991 to June 1993) Served at the Service School Command in Great Lakes, Illinois. Was assigned to the Gas Turbine Schools Division as a Course Supervisor for a four-week Advanced Operator Course. Instructed and graduated over 600 students in a 30-month period. Managed a staff of 12 other instructors. Qualified as Master Training Specialist.
Work Center Supervisor: (August 1988 to December 1990) Served aboard the USS William K. Johnson (DD 1093). Was responsible for operating and maintaining the electric plant control console, propulsion plant control console, fuel control console, damage control console, ship's control console, power supplies signal conditioners, sensory devices and 60 hertz 450 vac electrical distribution switchboards. Qualified as Engineering Officer of the Watch and advanced to Chief Petty Officer.
